Cadillac ATS, Taking the Small Luxury Class by Storm

Christmas may be done, but its almost like its Christmas again for us car enthusiasts because the North American International Auto Show storms Detroit in January. Cadillac has already presented their 2013 ATS, set one trim level below Cadillac CTS, at this year's North American International Auto Show. Believe it or not, the American luxury car maker is positioning themselves to be the leader in small car sales. Yes, you did read that correctly.

Two years ago, GM discovred the trend that small luxury vehicles were becoming ever so popular, and thus plans for small luxury concepts began. Even if you are a Cadillac fan, you may not have truly believed the rumors of their ambitions of being a small luxury car producer.  That is however, until the ATS details and photos started to leak a couple months ago.

"It is strategically a very important product for Cadillac," said Ed Kim, director of industry analysis at AutoPacific Inc., a Tustin automotive consulting firm. "Cadillac wants younger buyers to come into the fold, and they hope to move them up through the brand."1

GM has created a new engine to equip the ATS with- a 2-liter, turbocharged four cylinder, producing 270 horsepower to be exact. There has also been speculationg that an aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder, along with 3.6-liter V6 options may be available on the ATS as well.

With other auto makers selling hundreds of thousands of small, stylish vehicles annually, Caddy is ready to step up to the plate and take them all on. The 2013 ATS will come to Cadillac of Novi - 41350 Grand River Ave in Novi, MI later this year.
