Here are tips from our team at Cadillac of Novi on driving safely in rainy weather conditions.
Proceed Slowly
Rain can reduce visibility and create slippery road surfaces. To maintain control of your vehicle, reduce your speed. This limit gives you more time to react to sudden stops or hazards.
Increase Following Distance
Maintaining a significant gap between your vehicle and the one ahead provides enough to react if something goes wrong. You have time to stop or swerve away to reduce the chance of a rear-end collision.
Use Headlights
Even during daylight hours, your headlights help you see the road ahead and make your vehicle more perceptible to other drivers. You will not need your high beams since they can make it harder for other drivers to see.
Brake Gently
Damp roads can make it harder to stop your vehicle. Proceed by pressing your brakes softly to avoid losing control or skidding off the road.
